2. Pom Pom Scissors (to cut the tip of the squeeze bottle)

Activity Description

Play-Doh can be used in many creative ways! In this activity, we will use Play-Doh to create a maze. Then, we'll place a Pom Pom at the start and squeeze the squeeze bottle to move the Pom Pom through the maze.

Steps

• Step 1: Gather all tools and cut the tip of the squeeze bottle in advance. The more you cut off, the easier it will be for your child to move the Pom Pom

• Step 2: Create a maze using the Play-Doh.

• Step 3: Place the Pom Pom at the start and squeeze the squeeze bottle to move the Pom Pom through the maze!

Goals

This activity works on building the muscles of the fingers/hand, develop arches of the hand, and graded control. Squeeze too hard and the Pom Pom may fly out of the maze! Children will think of creative ways to build a maze while working on building foundational skills. This is also a precursor activity for scissor cutting.
