Two Buckets (one is filled with water)
Activity Description
Ready, get set, GO! Join us in a sponge race as we race against time to fill an empty bucket with water. Grab a partner and get ready to get wet!
Steps
Step 1: Gather all tools
Step 2: Place both buckets at least 5 feet apart
Step 3: Fill one bucket with water
Step 4: Place a timer for 2 minutes (or less/more)
Step 5: Begin the race by using your hands to place the sponge in the bucket of water and race across to the other empty bucket. Squeeze the sponge to fill the empty bucket water. Run back to the bucket filled with water and continue this step until the time runs out!
Goals
Squeezing a sponge helps to strengthen the muscles of the fingers and hand. Playing with water adds a sensory component; tactile (touch).
