Activity Description

Create your own ice cream sensory bag using colorful pom poms and gel! Children have the opportunity to practice matching colors or counting.

Steps

  • Step 1: Print out the PDF and gather all tools

  • Step 2: Squeeze the glue bottle into the ziplock bag. Place the pom poms inside and squeeze out air from the ziploc bag before sealing.

  • Step 3: Place the Pom Pom bag on top of the PDF. Move the pom poms on top of the ice cream cones by using your little fingers.

Goals

Children will practice counting or matching by colors. This activity is a fun way to engage in a sensory experience (tactile and visual) without getting your hands dirty. Using the little fingers to move the pom poms helps promote finger isolation.

Tips for Parents

Parents, if you notice your child is struggling with holding the sensory bag in place over the PDF, try taping the bag to the table.
