Activity Description
Children will practice letter recognition and sounds while playing with kinetic sand! Match the letters to the letter mat and see how many letters you can find.
Steps
Step 1: Print out the PDF and use a permanent marker to write uppercase or lowercase letters on the sea shells. Then, hide the sea shells in a container filled with kinetic sand.
Step 2: Children will try to find a sea shell, name the letter and its sound, and place on the letter mat.
Step 3: Continue until all sea shells have been found.
Goals
Kinetic sand is a great way to expose your child to a fun tactile sensory experience. Children will practice searching for sea shells and naming their letters and sounds. For older children, they can practice writing the letters to improve handwriting skills.
