Most kids are excited to learn how to cut with scissors. Cutting with scissors can be a huge challenge for children. There are many components to cutting with scissors and a developmental progression for scissor skills. For instance, children must have adequate muscle strength in the hand to sequence opening and closing of the scissors, maintain a thumb-up position on the scissors and with the helper hand, learn how to use their helper hand to follow along when cutting, and maintain good eye-hand coordination for precision.
