Shaving Cream
Tray
Activity Description
Looking for fun ways to practice handwriting? Use shaving cream to practice letter formation! Children will enjoy the texture of shaving cream and create a sensory sensational experience!
Steps
Step 1: Print out letter cards and cut out in advance (we will be using letters E, F, H, I, L, and T for this video).
Step 2: Spray shaving cream into a tray and begin to spread the shaving cream while using your hand.
Step 3: Once the tray is covered in shaving cream, select a letter card and begin by writing the letter from a top-to-bottom, left-to-right approach.
Step 4: Erase the letter by using your hand to spread the shaving cream across the tray. Choose another letter and continue the activity!
Goals
Children will practice letter formation and engage in a sensory experience with shaving cream. Letter formation begins from a top-to-bottom, left-to-right approach for right-handed writers. Children that are left handed also begin letter formation from the top-to-bottom approach however, can begin from a right-to-left approach because of the way their hand is positioned when writing. Always, always, always, start your letters at the top! That, never changes!
