Activity Description

Children will enjoy creating their very own puzzle! We will practice cutting along straight lines, counting, and improve visual perception when attempting to put the puzzle pieces back together.

Steps

  • Step 1: Choose a puzzle from the printed PDF

  • Step 2: Place fingers properly into the scissors. The thumb is placed in the small hole, whereas the index and middle fingers are placed in the larger hole. It is also proper to place the index finger at the front of the larger hole where you can find an indentation.

  • Step 3: Cut along the straight lines while using the helper hand to travel along closely. The helper hand can be called a "travel buddy".

  • Step 4: Put the pieces back together like a puzzle! If your child has a difficult time with matching the pieces together, have them place the puzzle in order by number.

Goals

We will work on cutting along straight lines. Using the helper hand as a travel buddy takes practice. When attempting to put the puzzle pieces back together, children must use their visual perception skills!
