Activity Description
We will learn a special song about how to properly grasp a pencil from Learning Without Tears. All you need is a pencil and listening ears!
Steps
Step 1: Place a pencil on the table in front of the child
Step 2: Play the video to learn the song and follow along!
Goals
Children will learn how to properly grasp a pencil. An efficient pencil grasp facilitates legibility, letter formation, speed and endurance. It also allows the writer to move the fingers and pencil in a controlled and precise manner. A poor pencil grasp can affect a child's attitude, academic performance, and motor/joint development. An incorrect pencil grasp is painful and can easily cause fatigue.
